The city of Karachi is currently experiencing a spell of intense hot weather, with authorities warning that temperatures may reach up to 38°C today.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature recorded last night was 27°C, while the daytime temperature is expected to rise significantly. Officials also noted that humidity levels have reached 78%, making the weather feel even hotter and more uncomfortable for residents.

Southwesterly winds are currently blowing at a speed of around 19 kilometres per hour, but they are not expected to provide significant relief from the heat.

Health experts have advised citizens to take precautionary measures as rising temperatures increase the risk of heat-related illnesses and infections. They strongly recommend avoiding street food and unhygienic beverages during extreme weather conditions.

Doctors also suggest that people wear light-coloured and loose-fitting clothing, cover their heads when going outdoors, and drink boiled or safe drinking water to avoid waterborne diseases.

Due to excessive sweating, skin irritation and rashes are also becoming common. Experts advise keeping the skin clean and dry, especially during outdoor activities.

Simple preventive measures such as washing the face with cool water and using a light moisturiser can help protect the skin from dryness, irritation, and heat-related discomfort.

Authorities continue to monitor the weather situation closely and have urged citizens, particularly children, the elderly, and outdoor workers, to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
